2009 OCDA Children’s Choir Festival
General Information
The 3rd Annual OCDA Children’ s Choir Festival is set for Saturday, April 4, 2009. The location is the Nancy O’Brian Center for the Performing Arts in Norman, and the cost is $8 per singer (this includes a festival t-shirt). The festival is designed to provide young choirs with the opportunity to perform and receive comments in a non-competitive format. Choirs may be comprised of treble voices with students ranging from grades 4-8, and may be community-based or school choirs. Each group will be assigned a time slot during the morning in which to perform two pieces from their repertoire. Guest clinician, Patti Drennan will listen and provide constructive written comments and suggestions, and will then work with each choir for approximately 15 minutes. Participating choirs are encouraged to sit in the audience and listen during other groups’ performances, as desired.
Mass choir rehearsals will be scheduled as part of the day’s activities and will be conducted by the guest clinician in preparation for a final concert. All choirs will be asked to learn two pieces for this joint concert. In addition, each choir will perform two of their individual pieces on the concert as well.
Each choir is responsible for purchasing/furnishing the mass choir music for their singers. The registration deadline is February 1st. Click here for a registration form. Students will wear festival t-shirts for the performance.
